CHILDREN'S VEST

Description of this vest or dress, well, just call it whatever is more convenient for you. The item is completely knitted in garter stitch in three parts: 1. two fronts and a skirt, 2. back, 3. sleeves. I will provide two sizes at once: for 6-12 months and for 12-18 months (the larger size will be in parentheses). In the two dresses, I used different yarns, but they are almost the same in length. The dress in shades of blue is knitted with Himalaya Enjoy yarn, 50% bamboo, 50% baby acrylic, anti-pilling, 250 g in 100 m. And the lilac-pink dress is made from Kartopu Lemon yarn, 100% acrylic. We cast on 20 (21) stitches and knit 14 (15) garter stitches (1 garter stitch is 2 rows, i.e. one strip), then we cast on another 10 (12) stitches, totaling 30 (33) stitches. Next, after 3 garter stitches, we make a buttonhole (don’t forget to make buttonholes every 8 garter stitches, there should be 3 of them). Having knitted a total of 21 (22) garter stitches, i.e. a total of 35 (37) garter stitches, we add an additional color. Next, we will knit wedges with short rows. We knit the wedges as follows: after adding the extra thread, we knit 1 row, then we knit only 27 (30) stitches and turn back, having knitted to the beginning we knit 24 (27) stitches and turn back..... We continue like this until we have 3 stitches left, then we knit all the way to the beginning and change the yarn. Thus, we knit 6 wedges, then we knit 4 squares of 6 garter stitches each, then one more wedge. Now we will knit a triangle in the middle, for this we knit a wedge, but only up to 15 stitches, then we knit two full rows, then we will start knitting in reverse until we have 15 stitches left, i.e. this time we will start turning the knitting from 3 stitches (3, 6, 9, 12, 15), having finished the central triangle we will then knit the second half in reverse. We also knit the wedges in reverse, i.e. this time we start the turns from 3 stitches. That was Part 1. Having knitted the fabric of the two fronts and the skirt, we will now knit the back. We cast on 54 (60) stitches from the center of the fabric and knit 32 (34) garter stitches, then we close the middle 14 (18) stitches and knit another 3 garter stitches on each side. In total, 35 (37) garter stitches. That was Part 2. Now we sew the shoulders and start making the sleeves. From the center of the shoulder seam, we count 25 (26) stitches on each side, marking with a marker. We cast on these 50 (52) stitches on the needles. We break the yarn, transferring the first 20 stitches to the right needle without knitting. We knit only the middle 10 (12) stitches gradually adding 2 stitches in each row until we finish the stitches at the edges, closing all the stitches. That's it! We sew the sides under the arms, and if you want, you can crochet the product, there is a video on how the products are knitted, in Turkish, but the video will help you catch the nuances, just turn off the sound. Happy knitting to everyone!
