Size: 12 months. The size can be adjusted by the thickness of the chosen yarn. You will need: about 120g of Novita Tennessee yarn (100% cotton; 100g/214m), 3mm needles, 3 buttons. A good option is BABY COTTON in 2 threads. Knitting density: 20 lace stitches = 10cm. Patterns: Garter stitch: all rows knit. When knitting in the round: one row - knit, the second row - purl. Description: Buttonholes: make the first stitch 1cm from the top edge on the garter stitch placket, each subsequent one 5cm from the previous one (2 together knit, yarn over). A total of 3 buttonholes. Cast on 77 stitches and knit 7 rows of garter stitch. Then knit 5 stitches for the plackets in garter stitch until the end of the work. Between the plackets, knit 32 rows of fantasy pattern = 249 stitches. In the next row, divide into front, back, sleeves (continue knitting the fantasy pattern always starting from row 13). Knit 33 stitches for the first front, cast on 8 stitches, slip the next 64 stitches for the first sleeve onto a thread or stitch holder, knit 55 stitches for the back, cast on 8 stitches, slip the next 64 stitches for the second sleeve onto a thread, and knit the last 33 stitches for the second front. Continue knitting only the 137 stitches of the body. Knit to the desired length of the cardigan, either to the 22nd or to the 32nd row of the pattern. Knit 7 rows of garter stitch, bind off the stitches. Sleeves: Slip the sleeve stitches onto the needles, pick up 8 stitches in the underarm (=72 stitches), join in the round: 6 knit, 2 together knit x 30, 6 knit = 42 stitches. Knit 7 rows of garter stitch, bind off the stitches. Repeat for the second sleeve. Weave in the ends. Sew on the buttons. Translation by Kristiina Temin
