Booties

Size: 3-6 months. You will need: 50g of yarn (preferably for children's knitting), medium thickness, 2.75 mm needles, 2 buttons. Knitting density: 28 stitches x 37 rows = 10 x 10 cm of stockinette stitch. Work description for the right bootie. Cast on 36 stitches. Row 1 (right side): 1 knit stitch, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, (1 knit stitch, yarn over) - 2 times, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 1 knit stitch. $CUT$ Row 2 and all even rows: knit 1 stitch through the back loop. Row 3: 2 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 2 knit stitches, yarn over, 3 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 2 knit stitches. Row 5: 3 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, (4 knit stitches, yarn over) - 2 times, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 3 knit stitches. Row 7: 4 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 5 knit stitches, yarn over, 6 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 4 knit stitches. Row 9: 5 knit stitches, yarn over, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, (7 knit stitches, yarn over) - 2 times, 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 5 knit stitches. Row 11: 22 knit stitches, yarn over, 8 knit stitches, yarn over, 9 knit stitches, yarn over, 22 knit stitches = 64 stitches total. Row 12: knit as row 2. Continue knitting 7 rows of stockinette stitch. Next row (wrong side): knit stitches together with the stitches from row 1 of stockinette stitch (you can use a crochet hook for convenience). Continue knitting 8 rows of stockinette stitch. Next row: 36 knit stitches, decrease to the left (slip one stitch, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted one), turn, slip the stitch without knitting, 8 purl stitches, 2 together purl, turn, slip the stitch, 8 knit stitches, decrease to the left, turn. Repeat the last 2 rows 7 times, then knit the first row one more time. Next row: slip the stitch, knit to the end. Next row: 17 knit stitches, 2 together knit, 8 purl stitches, decrease to the left, 17 knit = 44 stitches total. Next row: 24 knit stitches, turn, 4 purl stitches, turn, 4 knit stitches, turn. Knit these 4 stitches in stockinette stitch for 6 cm, then cast them off. 20 stitches are left on the needles on both sides. Cast on 15 stitches along the strap of 4 stitches, turn, cast off 26 stitches, leave the last 9 stitches (heel) on an extra needle. On the other side: cast on 15 stitches along the strap of 4 stitches, knit 20 stitches. Next row: 9 knit stitches (heel), cast off the remaining 26 stitches. Sew the seams of the sole and heel, knit 18 knit stitches, pick up 22. Next row: knit stitches, pick up 4 stitches. Next row: knit stitches, when there are 3 stitches left on the needle, make a buttonhole: yarn over, 2 stitches together knit, 1 knit stitch. Next row: knit stitches. Next row: knit stitches. Next row: cast off stitches. Fold the strap of 4 stitches according to the pattern, sew it, and sew on the button. Left bootie: knit symmetrically to the right.
