Knit garter stitch (all purl) from the sole. Cast on 50 stitches. Row 1: knit 1, 48 purl, knit purl. Row 2: as Row 1. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 another 9 times (10 ridges of garter stitch).

Toe Row 1: knit 1, 19 purl, toe: 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl, 2 purl together, turn. Row 2: knit 1, 1 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit, 2 knit together. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 12 stitches left on the sides.

Next, knit the cuff in ribbing 2 by 2, sew it together, and crochet around the cuff.
