This is a traditional old Finnish model of children's socks.
The shape ensures a good fit so they don't slip off.
Description of traditional Finnish socks
I knitted from Alize Cashmira 100% wool, 300 m 100 g. Needles 3 mm
Cast on 40 stitches
12 rows of ribbing 2*2
4 rows of purl stitches
4 rows of knit stitches
4 rows of purl stitches
12 rows of ribbing 2*2
4 rows of purl stitches
4 rows of knit stitches
4 rows of purl stitches
12 rows of ribbing 2*2
heel – 11 rows of stockinette stitch on 2 needles
rounding the heel – 6 central stitches and 7 side stitches, closed in pairs
there should be 6 stitches left on the needle
pick up 7 stitches from both sides of the heel
In total 10 stitches on each needle.
Knit 20 stitches in knit, and the remaining 20 stitches:
4 rows of purl stitches
4 rows of knit stitches
4 rows of purl stitches
4 rows of knit stitches
4 rows of purl stitches
Close the toe, decreasing every 2nd row, until there are 12 stitches left on the needle
knit 2 together, resulting in 6 stitches, which we close with a hook
I closed it in each row until 8 stitches remained. I gathered the stitches on a thread using a needle and pulled it tight. The sock is ready, knit the second one the same way.
