Pattern chosen. I'll briefly outline the process for you. 7 rows in stockinette stitch (odd rows knit, even rows purl). Then on the 8th row on the wrong side, knit, alternating yarn over and knit-two-together. Then again 7 rows of stockinette and the 8th row - knit. Fold in half along the line of the teeth. You can sew it on, you can weave the edge into the fabric; this will be a double hem. And the pattern itself is simple: Row 1 - alternate knit and purl stitches to the end of the row, and Rows 2, 3, 4 - knit stitches. And repeat these four rows.

Finishing the starting edge with a scalloped-fold edge
Cast on the required number of stitches in the usual way. When casting on, the yarn from the skein used to pull up the stitch should be on the index finger, the short end of the yarn for forming the first-row stitch should be on the thumb.

Knit in stockinette stitch (knit rows - knit stitches, purl rows - purl stitches) the fabric up to the height of the fold edge.

Knit the entire row, alternating 2 stitches together knitwise, 1 yarn over.

Knit the second part of the fold edge in stockinette stitch to the same height as the first.

Open the stitches of the first row. To do this, catch the yarn of the starting row from the end of the yarn, open one stitch at a time and place them onto an additional needle.

All stitches of the first row are opened.

Fold the fabric in half with the wrong side inward.

Bind off 2 stitches together knitwise (one stitch from the main needle, the second from the auxiliary).

You get a toothed edge, neat and elastic.

Main pattern

.

This pattern is formed by elongated stitches. Voluminous and expressive, this pattern is perfect for both women's, men's, and children's garments. The pattern is fairly dense and elastic, moderately stretchable.

To make a swatch, cast on a number of stitches that is divisible by 3, plus 2 stitches for symmetry, plus 2 edge stitches.

1st row: all stitches knit;

2nd row: all stitches purl;

3rd row: * 2 knit, 1 stitch slipped (yarn behind the needle) *, 2 knit;

4th row: 2 knit, * 1 stitch slipped (yarn in front of the needle), 2 knit*

Then repeat the pattern from the first row.
