Knitting a striking flower — an accessory for a hat with needles

Knitting flowers for decoration with a hook is common, but making a similar decoration with needles is rarely encountered, so I provide a complete description of the process.

Cast on 6 stitches and 2 edge stitches.
Row 1: Knit 1 edge stitch, 3 knit stitches, yarn over, 3 knit stitches, edge stitch.

You should have 12 stitches on the needles plus 2 edge stitches.

To knit the second petal, repeat the knitting starting from Row 1.
Knit 5 identical petals.

Join the edges of the petals together and sew them. Thread the yarn through the holes from the yarn overs and pull it tight. Decorate the flower with a bead or rhinestones.

To knit a larger flower, simply increase the number of stitches.
