HAT:
Sizes: 3/5 - 6/9 - 10/12 years
Head circumference: 50/52 - 52/54 - 54/56 cm

Knitting density – 21 sts x 28 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 cm x 10 cm.

NECK GAITER:
Sizes: 3/5 - 6/9 - 10/12 years

Knitting density – 21 sts x 28 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 cm x 10 cm.

Garter stitch (circular knitting): 1 garter row = 2 circular rows: 1 row of knit stitches and 1 row of purl stitches.

Pattern chart: see charts A.1 and A.2.

Work description:

The hat is knitted in the round on circular and double-pointed needles from bottom to top.

Cast on 112-112-120 sts on circular needles size 3.5 mm and knit 4 cm in ribbing 2 knit/2 purl. Switch to needles size 4 mm and knit as follows: * pattern A.1 (= 2 sts), 6 purl *, repeat from *-* a total of 14-14-15 times. Continue knitting according to this pattern. When you complete a full vertical repeat of pattern A.1, continue knitting with pattern A.2 = 126-126-135 sts. After 16-17-18 cm, decrease 1 st at the beginning of each purl section by knitting 2 sts together purlwise = 112-112-120 sts. Repeat the decreases every cm, alternating decreases at the end and beginning of the purl sections, for a total of 5 times = 56-56-60 sts. In the next row, knit all stitches together in pairs knitwise = 28-28-30 sts. Knit 1 row knitwise, then knit all stitches together in pairs knitwise again = 14-14-15 sts.
Cut the yarn, thread it through the remaining stitches, pull tight and secure. The height of the hat is approximately 21-22-23 cm.

Make a pom-pom with a diameter of 4-6 cm and attach it to the top of the hat.

The neck gaiter is knitted in the round on circular needles from bottom to top.

Cast on 88-96-104 sts on circular needles size 3.5 mm and knit 11-12-13 cm in ribbing 2 knit/2 purl. Switch to needles size 4 mm and knit according to the following pattern: * pattern A.1 (= 2 sts), 6 purl *, repeat from *-* a total of 11-12-13 times. When you complete a full vertical repeat of pattern A.1, then knit according to pattern A.2 = 99-108-117 sts. After 14-15-16 cm, increase 1 st at the beginning of each purl section by making 1 yarn over, then knit the yarn over purlwise through the back loop. Continue increasing every 3rd row, alternating them at the end and beginning of the purl sections, for a total of 5 times = 154-168-182 sts. After 20-22-24 cm, knit 2 garter rows and bind off the stitches.

Crochet edging:
Make a crochet edging at the bottom of the neck gaiter with a size 3.5 mm hook: crochet 1 sc in the first stitch, * 3 ch, 1 dc in the first ch from the chain of ch, skip about 1½ cm, crochet 1 sc in the next stitch *, repeat from *-* to the end of the row, finish the row with a slip stitch in the first sc.
