WINTER OPTION.

Start of work:

Using an extra thread and hook, cast on with 3.5mm needles:

92/96/100/104/108 stitches respectively for sizes 48/50; 50/52; 52/54; 54/56; 56/58.

The hat is knitted in one thread! Using the main color yarn, knit the row with knit stitches.

Do not join the knitting in the round.

Mark the start of the round with a marker.

Knit 1*1 ribbing:

29 rows (≈ 9cm) for sizes 48/50; 50/52;

32 rows (≈ 10cm) for sizes 52/54; 54/56;

35 rows (≈ 11cm) for size 56/58.

TRANSITIONAL SEASON OPTION.

Start of work:

The hat is knitted in one thread! Cast on with 3.5mm needles:

88/92/96/100/104 + 1 stitch respectively for sizes 48/50; 50/52; 52/54; 54/56; 56/58.

Join the knitting in the round.

Mark the start of the round with a marker.

Knit 1*1 ribbing:

33 rows (≈ 10cm) for sizes 48/50; 50/52;

36 rows (≈ 11cm) for sizes 52/54; 54/56;

39 rows (≈ 12cm) for size 56/58.

You may also adjust the height of the ribbing up or down as you wish. You will need to accordingly increase or decrease the number of knitted rows. Also, keep in mind that the yarn consumption will change!

At the end of the last ribbing row, you need to add one stitch!

Diagram 1

1. Insert the right needle from the wrong side under the strand between the stitches. (Fig. 1).

2. Lift the strand onto the left needle. (Fig. 2, 3).

3. Knit it with a twisted purl stitch. (Fig. 4, 5, 6).

Main fabric:

After knitting the required number of rows and making the increases, change the needle size to a larger 4.5mm, and continue as follows:

* 1 purl st., 1 st. slip, without knitting, yarn to the back *.

Knit in the round, repeating the actions from * to *.

In height, you need to knit an even number of rows:

64 rows (≈ 15cm) for sizes 48/50; 50/52;

68 rows (≈ 16cm) for sizes 52/54; 54/56;

72 rows (≈ 17cm) for size 56/58.

The main pattern is dense, the fabric does not stretch much! Do not tighten the stitches while knitting! If it turns out too tight, change the needle size to a larger one!

The last row of the main fabric should be knitted with smaller needles (3.5mm), leaving 2 stitches before the end of the row.

At the end of the last row, you need to decrease one stitch!

Diagram 2

1. Transfer 2 stitches from the left needle to the right, turning them so that the right legs of the stitches are at the front on the needle (Fig. 1, 2, 3, 4).

2. Cross the stitches over each other, so that the first stitch “covers” the second (Fig. 5, 6, 7, 8).

3. Knit both stitches together as a purl (Fig. 9, 10, 11).

Crown shaping:

For convenience when shaping the crown, you need to use either DPNs 3.5mm or 3.5mm needles on a 80/100cm circular. When using circular needles 80/100cm, the Magic loop method is used.

Decreasing stitches: three together with the central knit stitch (3 together knit).

Hat BUMPS_5

Diagram 3

1. Transfer 2 stitches to the right needle (Fig. 1, 2, 3).

2. Cross the first and second stitches over each other, so that the second stitch “covers” the first. (Fig. 4, 5, 6).

3. Knit the first and third stitches together as a knit (Fig. 7, 8, 9).

4. Pass the knitted stitch through the unknitted one (Fig. 10, 11).

5. Tighten the working yarn so that the stitches are close together. (Fig. 12).

Decreasing stitches: two together knit leaning to the left (2 together knit left).

Hat BUMPS_6

Diagram 4

1. Transfer 1 stitch to the right needle, turning it so that the right leg is at the back on the needle (Fig. 1, 2).

If you are knitting purl stitches in the classic way, both stitches need to be turned!

2. Return the stitch (stitches) back to the left needle (Fig. 3).

3. Knit both stitches together as a knit (Fig. 4, 5).

Decreasing stitches: two together knit leaning to the right (2 together knit right).

Hat BUMPS_7

Diagram 5

1. Knit both stitches together as a knit (Fig. 1, 2, 3, 4).

Decreasing stitches:

1 row: * 3 together knit, 1 purl *, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

2 row: * 1 knit st., 1 purl st. *, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

3 row: * 1 knit st., 1 purl st. *, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

4 row: * 1 knit st., 1 purl st. *, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

5 row: * 2 together knit left *, repeat until the end of the row.

6 row: knit all stitches knitwise.

7 row: * 2 together knit right*, repeat until the end of the row.

!!! In sizes 50/52; 54/56 (transitional season option) and 48/50; 52/54; 56/58 (winter option), at the end of row 7, 1 stitch remains; it needs to be knitted as a knit!

On the needles:

Transitional season option:

11/12/12/13/13 st. respectively for sizes 48/50; 50/52; 52/54; 54/56; 56/58.

Winter option:

12/12/13/13/14 st. respectively for sizes 48/50; 50/52; 52/54; 54/56; 56/58.

Cut the yarn, pull the stitches tighter (Fig. 1, 2). You can pull the working yarn twice when tightening. Pull the yarn to the wrong side (Fig. 3).

Hat BUMPS_8

Diagram 6

Inner layer (for the winter option): Transfer the stitches to 4.0mm needles, remove the auxiliary thread. Knit in stockinette stitch in the round.

In height, you need to knit:

42 rows (≈ 15cm) for size 48/50; 50/52;

45 rows (≈ 16cm) for sizes 52/54; 54/56;

48 rows (≈ 17cm) for sizes 56/58.

Knit the last row with smaller needles (3.5mm). The crown of the inner layer is shaped identically to the top.

IMPORTANT! The only exception is the 1st row of decreases: * 2 together knit right, 2 together purl*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Cut the yarn, leaving a free end of ≈ 15 – 20cm. Pull the stitches tighter. You can pull the working yarn twice when tightening. Sew the crowns of the two parts of the hat together.

Be sure to perform wet blocking (moist heat treatment):

 Fill a container with cool water, add a liquid detergent for wool and silk garments.

 Submerge the knitted item in the water, leave for a few minutes.

 Gently squeeze a few times with your hands, trying not to rub.

 Thoroughly rinse in cool water.

 For greater softness of the item, you can soak it for a few minutes in conditioner.

 Let excess water drain. Gently wring out any remaining moisture.

 Dry horizontally, away from radiators, on a towel.

 Periodically turn the item to avoid creases.

Item parameters in cm after wet blocking:
