We knit “Ear Ties”

We knit “ear ties” for sizes 46-48 (49-51, 52-54).

First, we need to determine the placement of the “ears”.

This is how the placed markers should look.

Turn the hat inside out and count from the base of the ribbing at the start of the row 11 (12, 13) rows.

Take a new yarn and pick up 11 (13, 15) stitches from marker to marker (I crochet them).

Transfer the stitches from the crochet hook to a 4.5 mm needle or to the needle size, turn the knitting to the wrong side and start knitting.

Important! The edge stitch - at the beginning of the row, slip it without knitting, and the last stitch knits with a purl stitch.

Row 1 crochet stitches, 9 (11,13) purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Attention! In the second row we will shape our “ear” with decreases at the beginning and the end of the row. If you prefer longer ears, start decreasing from the fourth row.

Row 2 crochet stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a right slant (the 2 knit stitches should be turned; after that insert the right needle from the front into the next two stitches, catching the working yarn and pulling the stitch), 5 (7,9) knit stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a left slant (to do this, slip one stitch from the left needle as if to purl, then knit the next stitch, and with the left needle catch the slipped stitch and pull it through the knitted stitch), crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Video link: Shaping the 'ear'

Row 3 crochet stitches, 7 (9,11) purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 4 crochet stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a right slant, 3 (5,7) knit stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a left slant, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 5 crochet stitches, 5 (7,9) purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 6 crochet stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a right slant, 1 (3,5) knit stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a left slant, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 7 crochet stitches, 3 (5,7) purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

For size 46-48, knitting is paused.

Next, knit for sizes 49-51 (52-54).

Row 8 crochet stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a right slant, 1 (3) knit stitch, 2 knit stitches together with a left slant, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 9 crochet stitches, 3 (5) purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

For size 49-51, knitting is paused.

Next, knit for sizes 52-54.

Row 10 crochet stitches, 2 knit stitches together with a right slant, 1 knit stitch, 2 knit stitches together with a left slant, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Row 11 crochet stitches, 3 purl stitches, crochet stitch, turn the knitting.

Next, we knit for sizes 46-48 (49-51,52-54).

1 chain stitch, 3 stitches together (as in the video), 1 chain stitch (knit the knit stitches).

Video link: Knitting 3 stitches together. Cord knitting

Next we make the drawstrings using a hollow cord.

With 3 stitches on the needle. After knitting the first row, do not turn the work; slide it to the other end of the needle
and continue knitting. And repeat each time until our cord reaches the required length.
I have this 55-60 rows.

Cut the thread, thread it through a needle and draw through the 3 stitches, and hide the thread inside the cord.

Video link: Finishing the hollow cord

The second “eye” is knitted the same as the first.

Moist-heat treatment of the item

Hand wash the hat in cool water (about 30 degrees) with a liquid detergent for
delicate items. Do not rub! Gently squeeze out, remove the excess water with a towel. Do not
wring! Dry flat on a towel, turning the hat
from time to time.
