Ingredients (makes 12 medium-sized pastries): 
- 500 g puff pastry (thawed in advance) 
- 250 g cherries (thawed in advance) 
- 3-5 tablespoons of sugar 
- 2-3 teaspoons of starch 
- 1 egg 
- a little flour for dusting 

Preparation: 
1. Drain all the liquid from the cherries and squeeze them well. Add sugar and mix. 
2. Lightly dust the work surface with flour. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2-3 mm (roll in one direction). 
3. Cut into squares with a side of 10 cm. 
4. Brush the squares with lightly beaten egg. 
5. Place the cherries on one half of the square, sprinkle a little starch on top. Close it and gently press the edges. 
6. Use a fork to create a pattern along the edge of the pastry, which will also help seal the dough. 
7. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with beaten egg. 
8. Place in a preheated oven at 200 degrees. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. 

Let the pastries cool, and you can sprinkle with powdered sugar.
