Mini skirt with ruffle made of cotton — a comfortable and beautiful model for summer.

SIZE

36/38 (40/42)
YOU WILL NEED

Yarn (75% cotton, 25% linen; 98 m/50 g) — 350 (400) g color khaki; circular needles No. 4, 80 and 120 cm long; 1 set of double-pointed needles No. 3.5; elastic tape equal to the waist circumference and 3 cm wide.
PATTERNS AND DIAGRAMS

KNIT STITCH

Rows in the flat and reverse direction: right-side rows — knit stitches, wrong-side rows — purl stitches;
in circular rows, knit all stitches as knit.
PURL STITCH

In circular rows, knit all stitches as purl.
RUFFLE PATTERN

Alternating 9 stitches in knit stitch, 3 stitches in purl stitch; 1 repeat = 12 stitches.
LACE PATTERN

Number of stitches is a multiple of 12 = knit according to the diagram in circular rows. The odd circular rows are given. In even circular rows, knit all stitches and yarn overs as knit.

Repeat the repeat and rows 1–8 continuously.

RIBBING

Alternating 2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches.

GAUGE

22 stitches x 29 circular rows/rows = 10 x 10 cm, 8 stitches = 3.5 cm, knitted in knit stitch (needles No. 3.5);
22 circular rows = 7.5 cm, 1 repeat at the beginning (= 12 stitches) = about 5.5 cm, knitted in ruffle pattern;
21 stitches x 24.5 circular rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitted in lace pattern.
ATTENTION!

Knit the skirt in one piece in circular rows, starting from the lower edge.

Since the ruffle pattern tightens significantly at the beginning, the initial width is not accounted for in the pattern.

WORK EXECUTION

Cast on 540 (576) stitches on long circular needles and join the work in the round.

Knit using the ruffle pattern = 45 (48) repeats.

To reduce width after 4 cm = 12 circular rows from the starting row in each repeat, knit the first 2 knit stitches together with a left-leaning decrease, and the last 2 knit stitches together; decrease 90 (96) stitches = 450 (480) stitches. In all subsequent even circular rows, knit the stitches according to the pattern.

Repeat the decreases 2 more times in every 2nd circular row = 270 (288) stitches.

In the next 2nd circular row, knit the remaining 3 stitches in each repeat as knit, performing 1 stitch with a double left-leaning decrease (see the symbols) = 180 (192) stitches.

After 7.5 cm = 22 circular rows from the starting row, continue knitting in the lace pattern.

For the waistband, after 34 cm = 84 circular rows from the end of the ruffle, knit another 7 cm in ribbing, then bind off all stitches according to the pattern.

ASSEMBLY

For size 1, the 8th repeat forms the center of the front panel; for size 2, the center of the front panel is located between the 8th and 9th repeats from the beginning of the circular row.

Finish the waistband halfway on the wrong side, leaving an opening in the center of the back panel for inserting the elastic tape.

Insert the elastic tape, sew the ends of the tape together. Close the opening.

To make a tie, create a hollow cord: cast on 4 stitches on 2 double-pointed needles, knit the stitches as knit, * do not turn the work, but move the stitches back to the beginning, move the yarn to the back at the start, tighten tightly and knit the stitches as knit again, repeat from * until the cord reaches a length of 110 (120) cm. Then bind off the stitches.

Thread the cord below the waistband through the last row of the lace pattern, starting and ending at the center of the front panel. The yarn overs of the pattern serve as holes for the cord.
