850 (900) g of Cotton Time yarn (100% cotton; 50 g/88 m) No. 00066 in blue, producer of the yarn - Schachenmayr SMC.
Needles No. 4-5.
Circular needles No. 4-5.
Hook No. 4.
Tapestry needle.
Size (chest circumference): 86-97 (102-107) cm.
Patterns and types of stitches:
Crossed cast-on.
Ribbing 2x2.
St. "crab stitch": crochet as for st. without a knot, but from left to right.
Bulky pattern: according to the chart.
Knitting density:
10 X 10 cm = 24-25 st. x 25 rows of ribbing 2x2;
18 st. of "braids" pattern = 6.5 cm in width.
Execution:
Back: cast on 122 (130) st. with a crossed method and knit 12 cm of ribbing 2x2, starting the 1st (wrong) row with 1 edge st., 1 purl st. and 2 knit sts. and finishing it symmetrically.?
Continue as follows: 1 edge st., 3 (7) st. of ribbing 2x2, *14 or 18 st. of bulky pattern according to the chart, 6 st. of ribbing 2x2*, repeat from * to * 4 times; 14 or 18 st. of bulky pattern according to the chart, 3 (7) st. of ribbing 2x2, 1 edge st. = 146 (154) st. after the 9th row.
At a height of 57 (55) cm, close 5 st. for the armholes on both sides, then close in every 2nd row 1 time 3 st., 1 time 2 st. and 2 times 1 st., after 4 rows close another 1 st. = 116 (124) st.
On both sides of the edge st. knit 12 (16) st. of ribbing 2x2.
At a height of 71 cm, for the neckline close the central 34 (36) st. and finish both halves separately, closing at the neckline in every 2nd row 1 time 4 st., 1 time 2 st. and 1 time 1 st.
At a height of 76 cm close the remaining 34 (37) st. of each shoulder.
Front: knit as the back, but with a deeper neckline.
At a height of 46 cm knit the first 72 (76) st. according to the pattern and for the slit transfer them to an additional needle.
Continue knitting the left half of the front on the remaining 74 (78) st., casting on 1 edge st. at the edge of the slit in the 1st row = 75 (79) st.
At a height of 57 (55) cm form the armhole on the left side, as on the back, = 60 (64) st.
At a height of 68 cm for the neckline transfer 15 st. from the right side to an additional needle, then close at the neckline in every 2nd row 3 st., 2 times 2 st. and 4 (5) times 1 st.
At a height of 76 cm close the remaining 34 (37) st. of the shoulder.
Then knit the right half of the front as follows: starting with the 1st (wrong) row, cast on 3 st. for the placket and knit 72 (76) st. from the additional needle according to the pattern = 75 (79) st. Finish symmetrically to the left half of the front.
Assembly
Make the shoulder seams.
Hood: transfer 15 st. from the left half of the front to circular needles and include them in ribbing 2x2 (starting with edge st. and 2 knit sts.), then pick up 110 (118) st. along the neckline of the back and transfer 15 st. from the right half of the front, including them in ribbing 2x2 (starting with 2 knit sts., finishing with 2 knit sts. and 1 edge st.) = 140 (148) st.
Continue knitting all st. in ribbing 2x2.
At a height of the hood of 28 cm mark 2 st. in the center of the back and knit the 1st st. together with the previous one in a knit method, transferring the 2nd st. in a knit method, knit.
Knit 1 knit st. and pass the knitted st. over the transferred one.
Repeat these decreases in every 2nd row 6 more times = 126 (134) st.
Divide the st. in half onto 2 needles and sew the edges with a knit stitch.
Armhole bindings: along each armhole pick up 98 (106) st. and knit 6 cm of ribbing 2x2, then close all st.
Make the side seams, sew the edges of the armhole bindings.
Secure the neckline placket.
Crochet the edges of the front plackets along the neckline and hood with 1 row of "crab stitch".
Only the right side rows are shown; wrong side rows are knitted according to the pattern. Knit rows 1-10 (with increases) 1 time, then repeat rows 11-26. The lower row without a number refers to ribbing 2x2.
