I present to you cute orange booties for a newborn. The product is made according to a standard pattern, which I decorated with an interesting pattern and beads. See the description and knit along with me:

First, you need to cast on 57 stitches.

 Take one needle and start knitting the bootie:

Row 1: I slip 1 stitch, knit 25 stitches knitwise, yarn over, 5 knit, yarn over, 26 knit.

In photo 2, it shows how to make a yarn over – simply draping the yarn over the needle.

The first row is ready (photo 3).

Row 2: I slip 1 stitch, 26 knit, yarn over knitwise through the short back loop, 5 knit, yarn over knitwise, 26 knit. Thus, we knit rows 1 to 8, gradually increasing stitches, until there are 13 stitches in the middle (2 yarn overs and 11 knit). Photo 4 shows the “horseshoe” that results – this will be the sole of the bootie.

Let’s proceed to knit the pattern, which is called the “lazy pattern”. I calculated the scheme so that there are three neat white columns in the middle. Therefore, we add white yarn and knit as follows:

Row 9 (knit, white yarn): I do not slip the first stitch, but insert the white yarn into it, knit the second stitch knitwise, slip the third stitch without knitting (yarn behind work). Finish the row according to the scheme: 3 knit, slip stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, and so on. You can see in photo 5 what I got.

Row 10 (purl, white yarn): continue knitting according to the scheme 3 knit, slip the orange stitch (yarn always in front of work), 3 knit, slip stitch, etc. 

Row 11 (knit, orange yarn): I slip the first stitch, 3 knit, slip stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, etc.

Row 12 (purl, orange yarn): 3 knit, slip the white stitch (yarn always in front of work), 3 knit, slip stitch, etc. In photo 6 you can see how 4 rows look, knitted with the “lazy pattern”.

Following this scheme, you need to knit 10 rows, namely: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 rows. To knit the pattern automatically, remember that when knitting with white yarn, the orange stitch (the middle one of the three orange) is not knitted. And when we knit with orange yarn, we slip the middle white stitch. The pattern is ready – photo 7.

Now let's move on to knitting the toe of our bootie. To do this, slip the first 26 stitches onto the second needle without knitting, as shown in photo 8. Now I work with the middle 13 stitches:

Row 19 (knit, orange yarn): I slip the first stitch, knit 1, slip the white stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, 3 knit, slip stitch, 1 knit, knit the last stitch together with the next one, leaning to the left.

Row 20 (purl, orange yarn): I slip the first stitch, knit 1, slip the white stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, 3 knit, slip stitch, 1 knit, knit the last stitch together with the next one, leaning to the right.

Row 21 (purl, white yarn): I slip the first stitch, 3 knit, slip the orange stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, 3 knit, knit the last stitch together with the next one, leaning to the left.

Row 22 (purl, white yarn): I slip the first stitch, 3 knit, slip the orange stitch (yarn always behind work), 3 knit, slip stitch, 3 knit, knit the last stitch together with the next one, leaning to the right.

Row 23 knits similarly to 19;

Row 24 knits similarly to 20;

Row 25 knits similarly to 21;

Row 26 knits similarly to 22;

Row 27 knits similarly to 19;

Row 28 knits similarly to 20;

Row 29 knits similarly to 21;

Row 30 knits similarly to 22.

The toe of the bootie is ready – photo 10.

Pay special attention to the connection of the last stitches. This special knitting is needed to form a neat braid at the corners (photo 11).

Now we only use the orange yarn and knit the holes, which we will later insert a ribbon into. They are made as follows (Row 31): I slip the first stitch, knit the second stitch knitwise, yarn over, 1 knit, yarn over, 1 knit and so on to the end of the row. What results, you can see in photo 12.

In the next Row 32, I knit purlwise, knitting the yarn over through the front loop. In photo 13, our holes are already taking shape.

Let’s move on to knitting the hollow ribbing: from Rows 33 to 53 (a total of 20 rows) I knit according to the scheme: 1 knit, 1 stitch slip (yarn always in front of work), 1 knit, 1 stitch slip and so on. Knit the knit and purl rows the same way. Rows 54 and 55 are knitted like Rows 31 and 32 to form the teeth. Then knit another 5 rows (from 56 to 61) with hollow ribbing.

Add white yarn. Using a regular needle, string beads onto it, which should be half the number of stitches. If I have 50 stitches, I take 25 beads. In Row 62, I knit like hollow ribbing, but in the place where the stitch is not knitted, I pass the yarn with the bead in front of the work, as shown in photo 14.

Knit the next stitch knitwise (photo 15).

With ribbing, we perform Row 63 and on the purl side, we start closing the stitches as follows: I knit 2 stitches together knitwise (the first is knit, the second is purl) and pull the knitted stitch through the previous one. A neat braid results – photo 16.

All yarns need to be neatly tied together (photo 17) and hidden among the strands of the product with a hook.

We sew the product with a mattress stitch. The part of the bootie from the beads to the teeth needs to be sewn on the right side, and the rest – on the purl side (photo 18).

This is what a neat seam looks like – photo 19.

When the product is sewn, we thread a decorative ribbon through the holes and tie a bow (photo 20).

The second item is knitted in the same way. Our booties are ready!
