Braids, diamonds, and incredible softness

Merino DK yarn from Wendy (England) in 50 g-116 m, exactly three skeins were used without leftovers. Circular needles for ribbing No. 3, for the main pattern 4.5, and double-pointed No. 4 for the crown.

I knitted with 2 strands. For size 56-58, I cast on 96 stitches, knitted ribbing as follows: * 3 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 3 purl* until the end of the round, about 4 cm, then I increased as follows: *2 purl, add 1 purl from the yarn over, 1 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, add 1 knit from the yarn over, 2 knit, add 1 knit from the yarn over, 2 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl, add 1 purl from the yarn over, 2 purl* repeat around, totaling 120 stitches (6 repeats of 20 stitches). Then knit according to the pattern:

knit the pattern once completely, from the 7th row move the start of the repeat 2 stitches to the right, from the 17th return the start of the repeat 2 stitches to the left, knit the second time according to the pattern up to the 13th row, from the 13th start decreasing as follows (I will write for half a repeat, the rest is mirrored and repeat the repeat around:
2 knit, 2 purl, slip 2 stitches onto a spare needle in front of the work, knit 2 stitches from the main needle together purlwise, knit the stitches from the spare needle, 2 purl, repeat the second half of the repeat mirrored (-12 stitches)
14 and all even rows up to the 24th row knit according to the pattern
15 row: slip 2 knit stitches in front of the work, 2 knit, 2 knit from the spare needle, knit 2 purl together purlwise, 1 purl, slip 2 knit stitches in front of the work, 2 knit, 2 purl from the spare needle, then mirror (another -12 stitches)
17 row: slip 2 knit stitches in front of the work, 2 purl, 2 knit from the spare needle, 1 knit slip onto the right needle unknit, knit the next knit and pull through the slipped stitch, mirror knit the second half of the repeat (simply knit the first two stitches together knitwise) (-12 stitches)
19 row: 2 stitches together purl, slip 2 stitches onto a spare needle in front of the work, 2 purl, knit the stitches from the spare needle, 2 together knitwise, 2 purl, slip 2 stitches onto a spare needle behind the work, 2 knit, 2 purl from the spare needle, knit 2 purl together purlwise (here is the whole repeat)
21 row: knit together purlwise the 2 stitches at the beginning and end of the repeat, the rest of the stitches according to the pattern
23 row: 2 purl, slip 2 knit stitches in front of the work, 2 knit, 2 knit from the spare needle, 2 purl
24 row: knit 2 purl together purlwise, 4 knit,
25 row: 3 knit, knit 2 stitches together knitwise
26 row: knit 2 stitches together knitwise, there will be 12 stitches left, pull the yarn through them twice and tighten.
make a pompom (mine is 8.5 cm in diameter) and attach it to the hat.
