Hello, friends! In this lesson, you will learn how to draw beautiful, full lips in SAI.

First, create a new document in SAI. Fill the background layer with a skin tone. On top, create another layer where you will sketch the lips with a fine brush.

Under the sketch layer, create another layer where we will apply color. Select the Brush tool and fill the surface of the lips completely.

Next, merge the sketch layer and the color layer – this will help us get rid of unnecessary lines. However, if you prefer a cartoon style, it is better to leave the sketch – it will give the drawing a special charm. So, after merging the layers (this is done using the CTRL and E key combination), start applying shadows with a dark burgundy shade. Light does not fall evenly on the lips, so try to convey the relief as much as possible.

Now we will need a pink shade to apply the initial gloss. If you're afraid to do something wrong – just create a layer on top and draw on it – you can always delete it or erase what is drawn incorrectly.

Soften the edges using a red soft brush and the Blend or Blur tool.

Let's work on the relief using a dark brush.

Also, detail the folds of the lips.

Choose a white color and with careful strokes, draw bright highlights on the surface of the lips.

Now you can adjust the color balance and saturation, make the highlights brighter, and work on the skin texture around the mouth.
