You will need 20 (22) skeins of yarn (70% merino wool, 30% soft polyamide, 60 m/50 g); needles 4.55 mm; 1 large and 2 small stitch holders; pins; a needle for sewing knitwear. Sizes S/M and L/XL.
The bust circumference when not stretched is 81 (96.5) cm. When stretched, it is 91.5 (106) cm.
The original pullover with intertwined stripes - the pullover of a Mongolian warrior, this is how designer Nicky Epstein named her work. An unusual piece that is very easy to knit, yet looks like something complex and unique.
The knitting density is 29 stitches and 23 rows = 10x10 cm in 2x2 ribbing.
Right side.
Cast on 56 (68) stitches and knit as follows:
1st row (RS): *[2 knit, 2 purl] 4 (5) times, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * twice, skipping 1 purl in the last repetition;
2nd row (WS): *[2 purl, 2 knit] 4 (5) times, 2 purl, 1 knit; repeat from * twice skipping 1 knit in the last repetition.
Repeat 2 rows in height 15 (18) cm from the beginning of work, finish on a purl row.
Divide into 3 stripes, which are knitted separately (the remaining stitches are transferred to large holder 1).
Stripe 1:

In the right side row, knit only on the first 18 (22) stitches in ribbing to a height of 30.5 (33) cm, finish in the right row, transfer stitches to small holder 2 and cut the yarn.
Stripe 2:
From large holder 1, knit 20 (24) stitches: slip one stitch as knit, slip the next stitch as purl, insert the left needle into the just slipped stitches and knit them together as one knit, 1 knit, [2 purl, 2 knit] 3 (4) times, 2 purl, 1 knit, 2 knit together. Continue in 2x2 ribbing on 18 (22) stitches to a height of 33 (35.5) cm, finish in the right row, transfer stitches to small holder 3 and cut the yarn.
Stripe 3:
Transfer the remaining 18 (22) stitches from holder 1 to the needles and knit in 2x2 ribbing to a height of 35.5 (38) cm, finish in the right row, turn the work and in the next purl row join all the stripes as follows:
18 (22) stitches of stripe 3; then 18 (22) stitches from holder 3 (central stripe) at the beginning and end of the row add one stitch: knit the same stitch purlwise first through the front loop and then through the back loop = 20 (24) stitches; then transfer the last 18 (22) stitches from holder 2 to obtain the initial number of stitches 56 (68). Continue working in 2x2 ribbing for another 13 cm and bind off stitches (for shoulder).
The left side is knitted like the right, but in reverse order. Before joining the stripes, intertwine the right and left parts of the front between each other, catching the stripes with small neat stitches (see photo). Then transfer the stitches of the left part from the holders to the needles and finish this side as the right.
The back is done similarly.
Sleeves. They are knitted like the vest
Cast on 74 (82) stitches and knit in 2x2 ribbing. Then decrease 1 stitch from each side every 12th row 3 times = 68 (76) stitches and continue to a height of 46 cm from the start of work. Bind off stitches loosely.
Assembly of the parts.
Make the shoulder seams. Measure 18 (20.5) cm down from the shoulder seams and mark both parts of the back and front with markers. Sew the sleeves between the markers. Fold the sleeves along and make the sleeve seams. Try on the garment, pin the garment at the sides, then sew the side seams.
