Dimensions: 51 x 157.5 cm.

Materials:

3 skeins of RED HEART® With Love® 1401 Pewter Art. E400 (solid color (338 m/198 g) and multicolor (211 m/141 g) skeins).


Needles: 5 and 5.5 mm.

Tape measure, markers, 4 buttons with a diameter of 22 mm, yarn needle.

Garter stitch: knit on both the right and wrong sides.

Knitting gauge:

on smaller needles: 14 sts = 10 cm in garter stitch.

Special stitch

knit through the front, then through the back of the same stitch – increase one stitch

Note:

1. The scarf-sweater consists of a rectangular piece and a thin belt.

2. The rectangular piece is knitted in rows and consists of three segments: left front, garter stitch in the center, and right front.

3. The belt is sewn to the middle of the long bottom edge of the rectangular piece (see diagram).

SCARF

On larger needles, cast on 70 sts.

Left front:

Row 1 (right side): 4 knit sts – garter stitch border, slip marker, 2 purl sts, * increase one stitch, 2 purl sts, repeat from * to last 4 sts, slip marker, 4 knit sts – garter stitch border = 90 sts.

Row 2 (wrong side): 4 knit sts, slip marker, 2 knit sts, * 2 purl sts together, 2 knit sts, repeat from * to next marker, slip marker, 4 knit sts = 70 sts.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures about 25.5 cm from the cast on. End with a purl row (Row 2) = 70 sts.

Garter stitch in the center:

Switch to smaller needles.

Continue to slip markers as you knit.

Knit in garter stitch (all rows knit) until the piece measures about 132 cm from the cast on. End with a purl row.

Right front:

Switch to larger needles.

Knit for 7.5 cm, repeating rows 1 and 2 of the left front. End with a purl row.

Buttonhole row 1 (right side): 4 knit sts, slip marker, 2 purl sts, * increase one stitch, 2 purl sts, repeat from * to next marker, slip marker, 1 knit st, bind off 2 sts for buttonhole = 88 sts.

Buttonhole row 2 (wrong side): 1 knit st, cast on 2 sts, 1 knit st, slip marker, 2 knit sts, * 2 purl sts together, 2 knit sts, repeat from * to next marker, slip marker, 4 knit sts = 70 sts.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 of the left front until the piece measures about 9 cm from the first buttonhole. End with a purl row.

Repeat buttonhole rows 1 and 2.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 of the left front until the piece measures about 9 cm from the second buttonhole. End with a purl row.

Repeat buttonhole rows 1 and 2.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 of the left front until the piece measures about 25.5 cm from the start of the right front. End with a purl row = 70 sts.

Bind off stitches as per pattern.

BELT

Measure the waist with a tape measure.

On smaller needles, cast on 8 sts.

Knit garter stitch for 3 rows.

Buttonhole row 1: 3 knit sts, bind off 2 sts, knit to end of row = 6 sts.

Buttonhole row 2: 3 knit sts, cast on 2 sts, 3 knit sts = 8 sts.

Knit straight in garter stitch until the required size is reached.

Bind off stitches.

Assembly:

Fold the scarf in half and place a marker along the fold line on the long side (opposite the edge of the buttonhole) to indicate the center.

Fold the belt in half and place a marker on one side along the fold line to indicate the center.

Sew the marked sides of the scarf and the belt, starting from the indicated center.

Sew about 10 cm on each side, gently pulling the belt.

Sew three buttons along the edge of the left front of the scarf opposite the buttonholes on the right front.

Sew the remaining button to the edge of the belt opposite the buttonhole.

Hide the ends of the threads.
