Cardigan with English rib

1. Materials.

Needles 5 on a 40 and 80 cm cable.
Yarn Lana Gattio - Silk mohair lux. In 25g - 210 m. 75% - kid mohair and 25% - silk. We knit with 3 threads. For the shorter version, 9 skeins were used, for the longer one, 12 skeins are needed.
2. Parameters and sample.
The cardigan width is 56 cm, length - 46 cm. The main pattern is English ribbing. Sample: in 10 cm - 15 stitches, in 10 cm - 16 rows.
3. Body. On needles 5, we cast on 150 stitches and knit 10 rows of ribbing 1/1. Then we distribute the stitches onto the main fabric: 10 stitches for the left band, 10 stitches for the right band and 130 stitches for the English ribbing pattern.
4. Band.
Right side: the first stitch is the edge stitch, we knit the purl stitches purlwise, the knit stitches are slipped without knitting, yarn behind the work. 130 stitches in English ribbing. Then we knit the second band in the same way, the last stitch is knitted purlwise.
Wrong side: the first stitch is the edge stitch, we knit the purl stitches purlwise, the knit stitches - knit, the last stitch is knitted purlwise.
5. Buttonholes.
Right side: 1 edge stitch, knitwise slip the knit stitch, purl, knitwise slip the knit stitch, purl, knitwise slip the knit stitch, yarn over, two stitches together knitwise, purl, knitwise slip the knit stitch.
Wrong side: Purl stitches - purlwise, knit stitches - knitwise, yarn over is knitted knitwise.
The distance between the buttonholes is 10 cm.
6. We knit the body length of 24 cm or 34 cm (if you want a longer cardigan). Then we make the first decrease for the neckline. To do this, we knit three stitches together before each band. See the photo in the carousel.
We have 146 stitches on the needles. We distribute 40 stitches for the left and right fronts and 66 stitches for the back. Then we knit the back separately to a length of 20 cm and the fronts separately. In the fronts, we first knit 9 rows and make the second decrease in the 10th row. We knit another 9 rows and make the third decrease in the 10th row. Then we knit without decreases until the length of the front reaches 20 cm.
We sew the back and fronts together. I have the seam on the outside, not on the inside. We continue to knit the band to the necessary length for joining.

Left-leaning decrease

After the band, slip the stitch with the yarn over, yarn behind the work. Then knit the next 2 stitches together knitwise, and pull through the slipped stitch with the yarn over.

Right-leaning decrease

The last 3 stitches before the band are knitted together knitwise.

Sleeves.
I picked up stitches from the armhole and knitted from top to bottom.
We cast on 52 stitches on needles 5, cable 40 cm — and knit English ribbing — 32 cm (or the length you need) without decreases.
Then we make decreases to 40 stitches and knit ribbing 1/1 for 10 rows and close the stitches.
