Special abbreviations

  • M1: Make 1 stitch by lifting the thread between stitches onto the left needle and knitting into the back loop.

Knitting instructions

The cardigan is knitted in rows from top to bottom with a round yoke in a simple lace pattern.
After the yoke, the work is divided into sleeves and body, each part is finished separately.
The front bands are knitted at the end.
Throughout the knitting, hold together 1 strand of Arwetta Classic + 1 strand of Tilia.


Yoke

Cast on 89 (95) 95 (95) 97 stitches on 3 mm circular needles, holding the yarns together.

Ribbing:

  • Row 1 (WS): 1 knit, 1 purl through the back loop, 1 knit, repeat to end.

  • Row 2 (RS): 1 purl, 1 knit through the back loop, to the last stitch, 1 knit.

  • Repeat these two rows 3 more times.

Switch to 4 mm needles.

Increase pattern (first 8 rows):

  • Row 1 (WS): All stitches purl, last – knit.

  • Row 2 (RS): Increases as per the chart below.

  • Row 3: As Row 1.

  • Row 4: 1 purl, all knits.

  • Row 5: As Row 3.

  • Row 6: As Row 4.

  • Row 7: As Row 3.

  • Row 8: 1 purl, 2 together knit, yarn over, 2 together knit, repeat, last – knit.

Note: After each repeat of Row 8, the number of stitches decreases by 1, which is taken into account in the chart.

Body:

Knit in stockinette stitch until the center back length is 44 (48) 50 (56) 56 cm.

Switch to 3 mm needles, knit ribbing (5 cm):

  • Row 1 (RS): 1 purl, 1 knit through the back loop, 1 purl, to the end.

  • Row 2 (WS): 1 knit, 1 purl through the back loop, to the last stitch, 1 knit.

  • Repeat.

Bind off in pattern.


Sleeves

Cast on sleeve stitches, lift 5 (5) 5 (6) 6 stitches under the arm on each side (total 66–86 stitches).
Knit in the round, decreasing 2 stitches every 8th row – a total of 12–14 times, until 42–58 stitches remain.

Sleeve length – 40 cm from the underarm.
Change to 3 mm needles, knit 5 cm of ribbing.
Bind off stitches.

Second sleeve – the same.


Bands

Right front:

Lift 95–119 stitches. Knit ribbing.
In the 6th row, make buttonholes: 2 together, yarn over, repeat every 12 stitches.

Bind off stitches.

Left front:

Same, but without holes.


Finishing

Sew on buttons opposite the buttonholes. Weave in the ends.
