Softest pullover made of kid mohairhttp://klubok.work/1/2/8916/Klubok

You will need:

  • The best and softest kid mohair from your stash.
    In the photo: Lana Gatto (75% kid mohair, 25% silk, 25 g – 212 m).
    Country of origin — Italy.

  • Yarn: 200–250 g depending on the size and desired length of the pullover.

  • Needles: straight and circular size 2.5–3.
(Important! Choose the size according to your knitting tension — some knit tightly, some loosely.)

Preparatory work (mandatory!)

To avoid unraveling and extra work, make sure to knit a sample!

  1. Knit a sample with the patterns you will use in the pullover:

Pattern for the sleeves (flat fabric):
    (insert scheme or photo)

Pattern for the yoke (circular knitting):
    (insert scheme or photo)

  2. Calculate your knitting tension.
After washing and lightly steaming the sample, count how many stitches are in 1 cm.
    For example:
    50 stitches = 20 cm
    Therefore: 1 cm = 50 ÷ 20 = 2.5 stitches

How to construct patterns for your size

Take your favorite well-fitting item and draw a pattern based on it.
The front and back — rectangles with a slanted top (the slope is about 3 cm high).

Calculating stitches:

For example:
Width of the front = 60 cm
Tension = 2.5 stitches/cm
Total: 60 × 2.5 = 150 stitches

Now adjust to the pattern:
If the pattern repeat = 24 stitches
150 ÷ 24 ≈ 6.25 → take 6 repeats
6 × 24 = 144 stitches + 6 stitches at the edges for the slope → 150 stitches

The same calculation applies to the sleeves.

Option 1: knitting from bottom to top

Start with the ribbing:

  • You can cast on 8–10 stitches fewer for a better fit.

  • Or use thinner needles for the ribbing.

Then knit the body of the pullover according to the pattern, remembering to leave slopes at the top — the sleeves will be attached there.

Option 2: knitting in two directions

This method is especially convenient if you are unsure about the sleeve length or are afraid of running out of yarn.

  1. Measure the shoulder circumference on your favorite pullover — this will be the width of the yoke.

  2. Calculate how many repeats fit in this volume.

  3. Cast on the required number of stitches with a temporary yarn (waste yarn), knit 2–3 rows.

  4. Switch to the main yarn (kid mohair), start knitting the yoke up in the round.

When the yoke is ready:

  • Remove the waste yarn from the bottom.

  • Divide the stitches between the sleeves and the body of the pullover.

  • Transfer the pieces onto the needles.

Assembly:

  • Knit the first 4–5 cm of each piece separately, adding 1 stitch on each side — this will be the underarm.

  • Then join the front and back and continue knitting down in the round or separately.

The bottom of the pullover — ribbing knitted with thinner needles.

Sleeves — knitted down from the yoke, on straight needles, since there is a pattern in the center.

Tips from the author:

  • Always knit a sample — kid mohair changes after washing!

  • Do not be afraid to use a temporary cast on — it's a lifesaver if you have little yarn or need adjustments.

  • Knit with pleasure — and you will create a cozy, light, airy pullover that you will want to wear every day.
