Knitting description

Body of the sweater

  1. On needles No. 2.75, cast on 278 stitches using the Italian method.

  2. Knit:

    • 4 rows of hollow ribbing 1×1

    • 16 rows of regular ribbing 1×1 (≈4.5 cm)

  3. Switch to needles No. 3.5 and knit the main fabric:

    • 1 edge stitch + 23 pattern repeats + 1 edge stitch

    • Repeat = 12 stitches, front side — knit stitches, back side — purl stitches

  4. Knit until the underarm for 31.5 cm (≈7 repeats in height)

Sleeves

  • Wrist circumference: 16 cm

  • Length to the underarm: 52 cm

Knitting:

  1. On double-pointed needles No. 2.75, cast on 51 stitches (including 1 for closing in the round), using the Italian method.

  2. Knit:

    • 4 rows of hollow ribbing

    • 16 rows of ribbing 1×1

  3. Transition to needles No. 3:

    • Setup row: increase 12 stitches = 62 sts.

    • In the second row: 5 pattern repeats + 2 knit stitches (center of the sleeve)

  4. Increases: in every 7th row — 2 stitches (according to the pattern)

  5. Knit to the underarm:

    • In height — 47 cm = 10 repeats

    • In width — 96 stitches (8 repeats)

You can knit the sleeve separately — adding 2 edge stitches for sewing

Raglan lines

Each raglan line = 10 stitches:

  • 1 knit

  • 1 purl

  • 6 knits (cable)

  • 1 purl

  • 1 knit

The pattern scheme — in photo No. 2

  • Length of the line from the front21 cm = 10 crossings

  • From the back25 cm = 12 crossings

  • Formed from: 5 stitches of body + 5 stitches of sleeve

Underarm

  • Width: 10 stitches
Underarm scheme — in photo No. 3

Assembly

On circular needles:

  • 55 sts. front

  • 10 sts. raglan

  • 86 sts. sleeves

  • 10 sts. raglan

  • 120 sts. back

  • 10 sts. raglan

  • 86 sts. sleeves

  • 10 sts. raglan

  • 55 sts. second front

Total: 442 stitches
Of which 10 stitches from the body and sleeve — for the underarm

Knit according to the pattern, decreasing 1 stitch from both sides of the raglan lines in every second row
After 150 rows from the ribbing — proceed to the neckline and short rows

Neckline and short rows

  • On the needles: 226 stitches

    • 70 sts. back

    • 29 sts. sleeves each

    • 29 sts. fronts each

    • 4 raglan lines × 10 sts. = 40 sts.

The neckline is done using the short-row method, without closing stitches.
Continue to follow the pattern and make decreases along the raglan.

Short rows — also using short rows

Finishing the neckline

  1. Setup row from the right side: all stitches (including raglan) — purl

  2. Change needles to No. 2.75

  3. Knit ribbing 1×1 — 12 rows

  4. Then 4 rows of hollow ribbing

  5. Close stitches with a knitting needle

Vertical band

  • Knit from bottom to top

  • Needles No. 2.75, 17 stitches using the Italian method

  • Start — 2 rows of hollow ribbing

In the 2nd row: do not finish the 17th st., slip it, lift the stitch in the yarn over and knit together with the 17th st. knitwise, turn and continue knitting
Every 3 regular rows + 1 short row (scheme 3×1), so that the band does not pull the fabric

  • Length of the band: 51 cm

  • Closing stitches: with a needle

Buttonholes

  • Buttons: 1.1 cm on a shank

  • Quantity: 7

Hole:

  • Horizontal, made of 3 stitches (2 — from the front, 1 — from the back)

  • From the front side:

    • knit 7 sts., close 3 sts., continue according to the pattern

  • From the back:

    • make 3 yarn overs, knit according to the pattern

The first hole — after 2 cm (≈10 rows)
Interval between holes — 8.5 cm (≈25 rows)
