Description of the cardigan pattern
The cardigan is knitted with circular needles No. 6 from yarn YarnArt Jeans Plus.
Almost 9 skeins were used.
Gauge - 17 stitches × 30 rows = 10 × 10 cm.
Finished size corresponds to parameters 90–73–98 cm (size M/L).
The cardigan up to the armholes is worked in one piece, including the back and both fronts.
Front and back
Cast on 175 stitches (including edge stitches) and knit 16 rows of 1×1 ribbing.
For symmetry of the fronts, the first stitch after the edge and the last before the edge are knit. Therefore the number of stitches should be be odd (175).
Then knit garter stitch for 96 rows.
Divide the finished fabric into three parts:
-
left front — 37 stitches (including edge stitches);
-
back — 101 stitches;
-
right front — 37 stitches.
Knit each part separately for 74 rows.
Then sew the shoulder seams — resulting in a vest.
Sleeves
The sleeves are knitted separately.
Cast on 76 stitches (including edge stitches) and knit 107 rows garter stitch.
Then work the cuff in ribbing 1×1, after decreasing the stitches:
-
slip the edge stitch,
-
purl two stitches together,
-
knit,
-
again two stitches together purlwise and so on.
Knit 14 rows of 1×1 ribbing (including the bind-off row).
Placket
Along the edges of the fronts and the neckline, cast on stitches:
(16 + 96 + 74) × 2 + 27 = 399 stitches.
Knit 14 rows of 1×1 ribbing and cast off the stitches in a stretchy way.
Finishing and care
After blocking (wet-heat processing) complete all seams.
The cardigan is ready.
