To knit a sample of "bumps" from 6 stitches in stockinette (pattern "Mulberry"), cast on 19 stitches and knit:

in the 1st, 5th, and 9th rows — knit all stitches knitwise;

in the 2nd and all even rows — knit all stitches purlwise;

in the 3rd row — 5 knit stitches, a "bump" of 6 stitches, 5 knit stitches;

in the 7th row — 2 knit stitches, a "bump", 5 knit stitches, a "bump", 2 knit stitches;

in the 11th row — repeat the pattern from the 1st row.

Now I suggest you knit a completely different variant of "bumps" from 4 stitches, however, these "bumps" are not as pronounced and resemble more of a hazelnut in shape, hence the name.
