Materials Phildar Mohair Soie Lurex yarn (78% mohair, 4% polyamide, 4% polyester, 14% silk; 200 m/25 g) –11 (12:13:14:14:15) skeins; circular needles 4 mm and 4.5 mm; 8 buttons with a diameter of 18 mm.

Knitting density
29 stitches/28 rows (15 cm/10 cm) – fantasy pattern on 4.5 mm needles.
35 stitches = 20 cm — pearl ribbing with double yarn on 4.5 mm needles.

Notes

1 knit from the stitch of the previous row — insert the right needle into the stitch of the lower row and knit it, drop the stitch above the knitted one from the left needle.

Patterns

Ribbing

Knit alternately 1 knit, 1 purl.

Pearl ribbing (number of stitches multiple of 2 + 1 st for symmetry + 2 edge stitches)

1st row (= knit row): all stitches knit.
2nd row: 1 edge, 1 purl, 1 knit from the stitch of the previous row, 1 purl, repeat from » and finish with 1 edge.
Repeat these 2 rows.

Attention: for easier and more pleasant work, the model is knitted in pearl ribbing, but during assembly, the wrong side should be made the right side.

Knitting description

Back

On size 4 needles with double yarn, cast on 87 (91:99:107:119) sts and knit ribbing for 4 cm, at the beginning and end of the 1st row knit 1 purl.

Switch to size 4.5 needles and continue knitting pearl ribbing and fantasy pattern according to the diagram, evenly increasing 10 sts in the 1st row = 97 (101:109: 117:129) sts.

Distribute stitches as follows: 19 (21:25:29:35) sts in pearl ribbing, 59 sts in fantasy pattern according to the diagram, and 19 (21:25:29:35) sts in pearl ribbing.

Armholes

After 35 cm from the initial row, bind off on both sides: 1 x 3 sts, then in every 2nd row: 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st = 85 (89:97:105:117) sts.

Shoulder slopes and neckline

After 54 (55:56:57:58) cm from the initial row, bind off for the shoulders on both sides: 1 x 5 (6:7:8:9) sts, then in every subsequent 2nd row: 3 (2:2:3:1) x 6 (6:7:8:9) sts and (1:1:0:2) x -(7:8:0:10) sts. At the same time as the 1st decrease for the shoulder slopes, bind off the middle 27 (27:27:29:29) sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

Along the inner edge of the neckline, bind off in every subsequent 2nd row: 1 x 4 sts and 1 x 2 sts.

Right front

On size 4 needles, cast on 43 (45:49:53:59) sts with double yarn and knit 4 cm in ribbing, at the beginning and end of the 1st row knit 1 purl.

Switch to size 4.5 needles and continue knitting pearl ribbing and fantasy pattern according to the diagram, evenly increasing 6 sts in the 1st row = 49 (51:55:59:65) sts. Distribute stitches as follows: 1 edge, 29 sts in fantasy pattern (from 31st to 59th st of the diagram) and 19 (21:25:29:35) sts in pearl ribbing.

Armhole

After 35 cm from the initial row, bind off on the left: 1 x 3 sts, then in every subsequent 2nd row: 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st = 43 (45:49:53:59) sts.

Neckline

After 46 (47:48:49:50) cm from the initial row, bind off on the right: 1 x 8 (8:8:9:9) sts, then in every subsequent 2nd row: 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 2 sts and 4 x 1 st.

Shoulder slope

After 54 (55:56:57:58) cm from the initial row, bind off on the left: 1 x 5 (6:7:8:9) sts, then in every subsequent 2nd row: 3 (2:2:3:1) x 6 (6:7:8:9) sts and 0 (1:1:0: 2) x 0 (7:8:0:10) sts.

Knit the left front symmetrically to the right, for the fantasy pattern knit from the 1st to the 29th st of the diagram.

Sleeves

On 4 mm needles, cast on for each sleeve 45 (49:53:57:61) sts with double yarn and knit 4 cm in ribbing, at the beginning and end of the 1st row knit 1 purl.

Switch to size 4.5 needles and continue knitting pearl ribbing and fantasy pattern according to the diagram, evenly increasing 16 sts in the 1st row = 61 (65:69:73:77) sts. Distribute stitches as follows: 1 (3:5:7:9) sts in pearl ribbing, 59 sts in fantasy pattern according to the diagram, starting from the 21st row, 1 (3:5:7:9) sts in pearl ribbing.

For the slopes, increase on both sides in every subsequent 16 (16:16:16:14th) row 6 (5:4:3:6) x 1 st and in every subsequent 0 (14:14:14:0) row 0 (1:2:3:0) x 1 st = 73 (77:81:85:89) sts.

Cap

After 43.5 (43:42:41:39) cm from the initial row, bind off on both sides: 1 x 4 (4:4:4:5) sts, then in every subsequent 2nd row: 1 (2:1:1:1) x 3 (3:4:4:4) sts, 4 (2:2:8:5) x 2 (2:3:3:3) sts, 2 (3:1:1:2) x 3 (3:2:4:4) sts, 2 (2:3:1:1) x 4 (4:3:5:5) sts and 0 (0:2:0:0) x 0 (0:4:0:0) sts.

Bind off the remaining 15 sts.

Front bands

On size 4 needles, cast on 9 sts with double yarn and knit ribbing, at the beginning and end of the 1st row knit 2 knit.

After 49 (50:51:52:53) cm from the initial row, bind off the stitches.

Knit the second band in the same way, but make 8 buttonholes of 3 sts at a distance of 4 sts from the right edge. Place the 1st buttonhole at a distance of 2 (3:1.5:2:3) cm from the initial row, the others every 5 (5:5.5: 5.5:5.5) cm.

Neckline trim

On size 4 needles, cast on 113 (113:113:117:117) sts with double yarn and knit ribbing, while in the 1st row the first 2 sts and the last 2 sts are knit. After 3 cm from the initial row, knit 1 row knit from the right side, then with a contrasting color yarn knit several rows in stockinette stitch.

Assembly

Attention: the wrong side of the pearl ribbing becomes the right side of the cardigan.

Complete the shoulder and side seams, the sleeve seams.

Set the sleeves into the armholes.

Stitch the open stitches of the neckline trim with the "back needle" stitch along the edge of the neckline on the right side of the garment.

Sew the fastening bands with a hidden stitch along the edges of the fronts, including the neckline trim.

Overcast the buttonholes and sew on the buttons.
