Cardigan knitting

A simple yet stylish cardigan with a straight silhouette will keep you warm in cool weather.

YOU WILL NEED

1000/1050/1150/1200/1300/1450/1550 g of sand-colored yarn (50% alpaca, 50% wool, 46 m/50 g);
needles No. 6.5;
hook No. 6;
1 button with a diameter of 50 mm.
PATTERNS

Large pearl pattern: see Basics;

Stockinette stitch: right side – knit, wrong side – purl.

KNITTING DENSITY

Stockinette stitch: 14 sts and 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 66/70/74/78/82/86/90 sts on needles and knit the lower band in a large pearl pattern for 10/10/10/10/11/13/13 cm. Continue working in stockinette stitch and knit straight. At a height of 61/64/66/69/70/71/72 cm from the band, bind off all stitches.

Right front

Cast on 39/41/43/45/47/49/51 sts on needles and knit the lower band in a large pearl pattern for 10/10/10/10/11/13/13 cm. In the next row (right side), distribute stitches: 10/10/10/10/12/12/12 sts in a large pearl pattern (= vertical band of the front), 29/31/33/35/35/37/39 sts in stockinette stitch and knit straight in the specified sequence. At a height of 52/24/56/57/59/59/61 cm from the band (right side), make a buttonhole: knit 4/4/4/4/5/5/5 sts in large pearl pattern, bind off the next 3 sts. Continue knitting according to the pattern until the end of the row, in the next row, cast on the bound-off stitches again, continue knitting according to the pattern. At a height of 56/57/60/61/63/63/64 cm from the band (right side), to shape the neckline, bind off 10/10/10/10/12/12/12 sts on the right side first. To round the neckline, bind off 1 x 3/3/3/3/3/3/4 sts in every 2nd row, 1 x 2/2/2/3/2/3/3 sts and 1 x 2 sts. At the height of the back, bind off the remaining shoulder sts.

Left front

Knit symmetrically to the right front, but without a buttonhole.

Sleeves

Cast on 58/60/60/62/62/64/66 sts on needles and knit the band in a large pearl pattern for 10/10/10/10/11/13/13 cm. Continue working in stockinette stitch and knit straight. At a height of 32.5/33/33/33/33/33/33 cm from the band, bind off all stitches.

Knit the second sleeve the same way.

Finishing

Slightly dampen the pieces, let them dry. Sew the shoulder seams and sleeve seams, turning the cuff made in a large pearl pattern to the right side. Set in the sleeves, sew on the button opposite the buttonhole.
