Everyone is familiar with the dish of tasty and hearty Middle Eastern fast food, called shawarma (shaverma, shavarma, shuarma, shaorma), which is sold almost everywhere here.
So, making shawarma at home is quite simple, and the result turns out just the way you want it, because you can add ingredients to your taste.
Ingredients
-
thin Armenian lavash (can be replaced with pita)
-
meat component (this time I used dietary chicken breast)
-
young cabbage
-
red salad onion
-
young fresh cucumbers
-
tomatoes
-
yellow bell pepper
-
parsley
-
good sour cream (I had homemade farmer's)
-
white wine vinegar
-
garlic
-
salt, sugar, + any spices to taste
-
vegetable oil
Cooking method
First, prepare the sauce, so it can sit for a while and all the flavors blend well.
For this, add chopped parsley, pressed garlic, and salt to the sour cream, and mix everything well.
Then, marinate the finely chopped red salad onion in salt, sugar, and wine vinegar
Chop the vegetables.
Cut the lavash into strips of the desired length and spread sauce on half, then place the vegetable filling on top.
As for the meat component, you can traditionally use chicken breast, pre-cooked. Cut the breast into small pieces and quickly fry it in hot vegetable oil, stirring constantly; it will not lose its juiciness.
Carefully roll the lavash with the filling tightly, starting from the right side into a tube, and quickly fry it on a very hot skillet on both sides.
Enjoy your meal!
